Just to Clarify

..... Ahem....

I wish I knew how to reply to comments on Blogger but sadly I don't... Thus, I decided to post the answers to some of the questions and comments made during Wordless Wednesday...

Oh and I STILL have that song in my head.... *stares at Brandy* Just for you I picked an equally catchy song.. Tainted Love by Soft Cell.... "Sometimes I feel I've got to..Run away.. I've got to...Get away"

Okay to the Q&A....

Posting them was actually his idea.... LOL I don't think he would dream of grounding my from the computer because that means he wouldn't be allowed on the computer either... muhhaaaaa

Oh my gosh, I LOVE it. You guys are too funny. My favorite is the 70's one. It is perfect!!!

That happens to be his favorite picture also.... With a different hair style I think it would be a great picture...

LOL. How hilarious. Nice series. He didn't look too enthused by it, though. LOL!

Honestly, I'm not sure why he didn't smile more.. He was having a blast shaving a little bit here and there and then getting his picture taken...

lol the last one looks like he's been drafted for Iraq? ;-)

That's his least favorite picture... Thank goodness he hasn't gotten orders to go back (yet)... However, there is a big change coming for us soon... Actually, several changes at the job and then *shudder* another move... No more details about that until a later post when I know more...

That is really cool! Happy WW and thanks for stopping by. How does he like you posting all those photos? lol

Hmmm well, I did let him proof the post before posting so if he really didn't like it he would have told me... However, he did inform me that he hates the AFTER picture of him because it "Doesn't even look like me".... I have been trying to get him to start his only little blog but he hasn't gotten any farther than using it for a few posts...

And that concludes today's Blarney....

Wordless Wednesday - Is that a Muttonchop?

Hmm perhaps not wordless this time... So, here's the story....
DH took leave during the weeks before and during Lil Kiwi's surgery back in June... Since he wasn't working he let his beard grow for those two weeks... Of course, then when it was time to go back to work he mmm well he decided to travel through the ages.... (what is it about men)

So..... I picked the best of the eras and here they are...... (I'm sparing you a few of them)

Hear that? It's more rain and thunder... Which means possible (most likely) powerouts... Since we are having bad weather AGAIN; I might not be able to post on everyones WW today.. However, I will post tomorrow if we still have power...

The beginnings of a Soccer Mom

This weekend was quite a busy one for the Shenanigans household... Many of you don't know this but after a LOT (and I mean a lot of thinking and planning) we finally decided to get a Minivan... There is a big chance that the dealership hated us because we got it under invoice price and they didn't really make any money from us... If I am spending money on something I want to make sure I like it and am getting as much for my money as possible... Thus, we decided to go (gulp) new.... Not that I didn't try to find a used one but it's a rare thing to find a good used minivan that isn't already 8 years old and tons of miles on it... Of course, I understand why that is because I do not plan on getting rid of this minivan until it is on it's last leg...
Normally, this is the part where I would be showering you with photographs of the beautiful thing that is making me redo the budget..
(It's been nice not having a car payment for years).. However, this is how the weekend looked...

Friday was all about heavy downpour and kept us from getting the garage cleaned out to fit the minivan inside... Saturday, DH went down to pick up the minivan and we did some light cleaning of the garage before the storm hit.... All I could do was think DANG they just waxed it... Sunday, we spent cleaning the garage out as much as possible and wanting to yell at reminding the neighborhood hoodlums kids (ages 2,3,5,8) that always destroy behave so much like perfect angels to stay the &*$% away from the minivan... Good times... Good times...
That left us with a minivan still sitting in the driveway and about half a garage full of stuff... I'm hoping that this week we will get that stuff organized and make room for the minivan... Dropped a whole bunch of new items and items we haven't used off at the Goodwill store down the street... That's what happens when you move from 1600 sq ft to 800 sq ft....
Anyway.....
Wee Man heard me make a comment about being a Soccer Mom now... So, all weekend this is what he has been saying...
"I'm a Soccer Boy now.... I am a soccer Boooooy"

My Big Fat Greek Soup

I have about four or five sets of photos to go with recipes we have made in the last month or so.. The problem is someone (ahem) keeps forgetting to post about them... Shame on me I know...

Well, I found my recipe for a soup I use to make all the time when I lived in Hawaii because it was cheap and good... When I say found I mean found... It was packed up in a box when I moved and I just found it the other day...It's been awhile since I have made this soup... So, without further ado...
Greek Lemon Rice Soup

Ingredients:

4 cups chicken broth
1/3 cup uncooked long grain white rice (I haven't tried it with brown rice but do plan to soon)
2 eggs
Juice of 1 fresh lemon, or to taste
1/2 cup cold water
1 cup warm broth (from the cooking soup)

Preparation:

1. Bring broth and rice to a boil in a large saucepan. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the rice is very tender, about 15 minutes.

2. Separate 2 eggs (whites in one bowl and yolks in another). Whisk the egg whites till creamy and fluffy. Add the egg yolks to the egg whites and mix them until creamy.

3. Slowly add the lemon juice to the eggs .

4. Mix half of a cup cold water and half of a cup warm broth/soup together in a medium/large bowl (making one cup of luke warm water/broth so the eggs do not curdle)

5. Slowly add the lemon/egg mixture to the water/soup mixture. Stir slowly till blended. Then add another half cup of broth. Stir slowly till blended.

6. Slowly pour the mixture into the rice soup and stir till blended.

Enjoy.... If you like you can add a little dill, parsley, pepper, etc to taste... You may even want to add some green onions for color and flavor if you like...

Do have to warn you that you need to be careful with the lemon juice.... I happen to like the tangy lemon a tad stronger than oh say DH does.. So, he wasn't happy with the amount of lemon juice I put in.. However, in my defence it was a very juicy lemon... Oh and yes it doesn't look yummy at all when making it but oooo it's good..

They come in threes

Okay this is more just a vent than anything...

First, it was the power coming and going for two days... (off 15 minutes... on 15 minutes... etc.. then off for hours..)

Second, it was the water being shut off all day because the same pipe burst down the street that has already been fixed twice.. (amazing that it's the same people fixing it each time.. HMMM)

NOW oooo now it's the air conditioner... Or should I say the lack of AC....

Yep... it's storming tonight and tomorrow it's sunny which means humidity...which means yucky hotness in the house.. ugh...

Plus, it's the weekend so if I call in a work order it will sit on the desk until Monday because this isn't considered an emergency... Then we have to wait until they have time to get out here to look at it... It got to 78 this afternoon IN the house... It wasn't that hot outside..

We live on base so just like everything else we have to wait... My only possible chance at getting the AC back sooner than later is being under-handed... Being nice doesn't work when there are rules (and they just don't care) however; if you know someone or know what loopholes to work you might just get your work order taken care of...

So..... here's to hoping I have it in me to work the system tomorrow and get the AC working again...

On a side note.... MOM I hope the trip goes well and dang it lady CALL ME when you get there... Gotta make sure you make it in one piece.. hehee

An Apple II

Here is the update for the appointment today with Dr. V... Somehow we were in and out of the office in 15 minutes; including waiting room time... He thinks that Lil Kiwi's surgical site looks good and gave us the paperwork to get her VCUG done... Whew!

Lil Kiwi remembers him because as soon as she saw him come towards her it was all dirty looks and evil eyes... Oh dear...

So, now tomorrow I have to call and get a date for the VCUG for sometime in August... Then wait until the next follow-up appointment to see if the surgery worked... Normally, the results of the VCUG aren't known until you go see your doctor; however, the staff and I are pretty close now and I get an "un"official report right then... Also it doesn't hurt that I know how to read x-rays and ultrasound...

An Apple A Day...

So, today is Lil Kiwi's recheck appointment with Dr. V... We will sit for up to an hour in the waiting room (it has never been less) and then see him for all of 10-15 minutes if that... I am hoping that today he looks at her and thinks the surgical site looks fine and gives us the okay to get the last test done... Then I can schedule her last VCUG for later this month or early next month... This test will let us know whether or not the surgery worked...

I am worried... Lil Kiwi has been more moody than normal lately... Plus she has been doing a strange sitting shuffle thing and crying... UTI???? Teething??? just being a baby??? I don't know...

Her surgical site looks good but is a little more hard and puffy than I would like... but then again I'm not a doctor...

It was a long night for Lil Kiwi and myself... She was in a uncontrollable crying fit last night so I took her to get some sleep... Only she wouldn't sleep... She would lay or sit in the crib and be quiet... as long as I was laying on the bed... So from 7 pm to about 10pm it was like being back at the hospital... No sleeping but just peaceful quietness.. If I tried to take her out of the crib she would get upset.. No clue... No idea what was going on... Even after Lil Kiwi was asleep she was moving about...

Okay now I feel like I'm rambling... Thus, I will end this post here and will update later tonight or tomorrow with what Dr V. tells us.....
